The FAWN

Relax in this bespoke, hand-crafted Douglas Fir cabin, accompanied with a wood fired hot tub and breath-taking views

Named after the deer that roam the vale. Our tiny herd of cabins are grouped like a family of deer, within sight of one another, but with enough distance to do your own thing, without feeling overlooked.

Douglas fir and cedarwood were harvested in the valley before being sawn at the local Bram Crag sawmill. The feature wall in the cabin is made from off-cuts – helping to make use of what otherwise would go to waste. The timber beneath the bed has a story to tell. Luke and Jack reclaimed the lambing pens built by their great-grandfather to make the bed. There are floor-to-ceiling windows behind the log-burning stove, so if you’re inside, you can hear the fire crackle as you enjoy the stunning views. Watch how the light and shade shift on the shoulder of the mountain they also call Saddleback.

Please note: Check-in and Check out days all must be on either a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.

IN THE VALE, BIRKETT MIRE, THRLKELD, KESWICK, CA12 4TT

BY CAR
Following directions for CA12 4TT from the A66, approx 1 mile from your destination you will turn off the A66 heading onto station Rd/B5322, signposted St johns in the vale and Threlkeld Mining Museum. Once on this road you should look for the first farm on your right (Birkett Mire sign at the top of the lonning).

If arriving from the south via the lakes, follow directions for CA124TT or Threlkeld. There are a couple of addresses that share this postcode so when in a 1 mile radius look for a farm on your left hand side (Birkett Mire). If you get to the junction for Threlkeld Quarry and mining museum you’ve gone roughly 50m too far.
